Aged Care and VAD
Living in a residential care home does not diminish a person’s right or ability to access voluntary assisted dying (VAD). Older people retain the right to pursue VAD in their home, including when that home is a residential aged care facility. The Australian Government's Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission has published a fact sheet, explaining the responsibilities registered aged care providers have to people receiving residential care, who are thinking about or wanting to access VAD.
